The Incredibles 2 Trailer Throws The Superhero Family Back Into Action
In recent weeks, it has felt like the marketing for Incredibles 2 has been ramping up. Pixar has been super secretive about the project, but just a couple weeks ago revealed new images and details about the animated blockbuster. Now on the tail of some laundry-themed posters, we finally have some actual footage to get us even more excited for the sequel, as the first full-length trailer has finally been released during the Winter Olympics!
Although the first Incredibles movie ended with the Parr family donning their red costumes to battle The Underminer, there's still one little problem they haven't cracked yet: superheroes are still illegal. Even though Bob (Craig T. Nelson), Helen (Holly Hunter), Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (who is now being voiced by Huck Milner) and Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) foiled Syndrome's nefarious scheme, in the eyes of the U.S. government, they're supposed to be keeping a low profile, not galavanting around with their powers. Fortunately, there are those who want to reverse this policy, and to do that, they'll turn to Helen, who will become Elastigirl again and ride off on a new adventure.
While Elastigirl is out in the field, Bob will have his own important mission: looking after the kids. But for a super-family like this, this doesn't just mean helping out with math homework and reading a bedtime story to the baby. Contrary to original belief, Jack-Jack has a super power. Strike that, he has MANY superpowers, and as we can see in this preview, it's going to take all Bob has to keep Jack Jack under control. I can only hope that he doesn't run out of cookies before Helen comes home.
Along with all the returning faces from The Incredibles, including Frozone, Edna Mode (writer and director Brad Bird's character, who wisely points out that parenting is a heroic act... when done properly) and the sinister Underminer (John Ratzenberger), Incredibles 2 is introducing several important new players. They include Bob Odenkirk's Winston Deavor, Catherine Keener's Evelyn Deavor, Sophia Bush's Voyd and Isabella Rossellini's The Ambassador. Jonathan Banks has also taken over as the new voice of Rick Dicker, the government agent who relocated the Parrs and helped them stay undercover, though he'll soon have to deal with his department being shut down. Michael Giacchino has also returned to score Incredibles 2, making it his seventh Pixar contribution.
Incredibles 2 arrives in theaters on June 15, and make sure to also scan through our 2018 release schedule to learn what other highly-anticipated movies are coming out this year.
It's not entirely clear exactly what the main cast of Toy Story 4 is doing at said carnival, but one thing that's driven home is that Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) is in some real trouble. Apparently he has not only been captured by someone who works at the fair, but he has been put up as a top prize at one of the booths.
